Hi!
I’ve had a couple fish in QT for 2.5 weeks now, they’re in Coppersafe.
The last time I checked the Hanna Checker was on 7/29/25. And it was 2.27ppm.
That stayed stable for the 10 days prior to that.
Today I just did another check (8/4/25) and it said 1.99 and 1.98. I did 2 tests because I was confused how that happened..

I know I’m supposed to keep it above 2ppm.
Does this mean I need to restart? Or are those levels still therapeutic?

QT is supposed to be over Saturday next week.

Lastly, not sure if this makes a difference, but I put Prazi (second dose) 24 hours ago, I don’t know if that messes with readings..

Thanks so much!

bring it up to 2.25 and continue and maintain level 3 more weeks

Thank you!
Can I ask you one more question once you’re here..
Are you able to identify what this is?
There are these 3 whitish marks on the right side top of the fine area. And also a little on the top by the first “spine” of the top fin.
It’s been there for a week and a half.
I assumed it’s that clownfish disease..
is that something that’s contagious if he still has it by end of QT? And is it fatal or something I should do to help it..

Thanks so much!

I see what looks like excess mucus and ma be associated with brooklynella

1.98 is within the range of accuracy for 2 ppm for the Hanna test -

I’m not a strong adherent to “restart” copper if it falls below “X”. Before we had the Hanna test, we could only get within 0.25 ppm accuracy, and copper still worked.

I would extend the copper for the period of time it was below 2.25 - about a week.

I’m confused though - you’re running prazi and copper at the same time? I generally tell peopmm on e to avoid that except in special cases where the fish have active ich and flukes at the same time. And then, doing this with prazipro increases the stress on the fish.

If you have calcareous rock in you QT that will effect tour copper readings.

Trouble is, they reported that the copper level was stable for 10 days and then dropped. I can't account for that unless there was a testing problem or some water change or something. pH changes can sometimes influence the release of copper bound up with rocks, but I don't see how the uptake of copper by the rocks would change over time.

Thank you Jay & Vette!
So regarding prazi and copper at the same time. Yes it’s something I try avoid if possible.
In this case about 5 days into the copper treatment after buying them, I noticed what I’m 99% sure were flukes..
Little white scales growing by the gills of one of the fish.
A fresh water bath had those fall off, but I did 2 prazi doses 9 days apart to deal with those..

So I think you’re both saying similar here, I’ll keep it in QT for an extra week for the copper.

Lastly, if it’s looking like Brooklynella on the clown. It hasn’t really moved in the last week or so but it may have gotten a little larger in the same spot?

If I wanted to dose the tank with something when there’s copper in there, is there a good treatment for it?

I’m gonna ask a crazy last question, this clown seems to be dealing with all these issues, I’m wondering if it’s maybe better to bring him back to the LFS so they can try help him in their QT and I’ll get a new one.
At this point I only lost a week of QT with the copper dipping, and it’s not a specialty fish that’s hard to get..
but if whatever is on the fish is in the tank anyways, that might not help..

Thanks so much!
