If you ever wanted a rabid junkyard dog, but don't have the backyard for it, buy a 3- (or 4-) Stripe Damsel, or a Domino Damsel, and watch it grow. (Be ready to eventually call Animal Control, to come out with a net.) (Pun!)

Had two 3 stripe and yes they were like rabid animals, wanted to kill everything

I have 2 a Fiji blue devil and a talbot that I had since it was a small fry …. Would love too add a starcki and a jewel … I have a 130 and only once in a while the Fiji gets territorial but most of the fish are bigger

Yellow tail, got him 8 months ago. LFS recommended as completely peaceful community fish. Lies! Very territorial over his cave. That's him heading into it it. Bats anything that gets close with his tail. ticked off the Flame Angel who constantly chases him

I've had a sapphire Damsel for 3 years or more.... model citizen, doesn't bother anyone.

The powder blue tang rules the tank with a purple tang always challenging for top spot.

Great little fish, always active with interesting social structures setup as time progresses.
Maybe of interest to some, but after a number of months spent closely observing my Amblyglyphidodon aureus, i notice that picks around my SPS in a somewhat similar fashion to wrasse looking to consume pests. Anyone else notice this behaviour

I have one that The Aquatic Critter in Nashville, TN labeled as a Scott's Damsel. Have not found much info online about them other than the fact that they do not tend to get as big as most other damsels. It is a bit smaller than my other fish, and sometimes gets bullied by my Atlantic Pygmy Angel and the lone Clownfish I have. I recently lost my six-line wrasse and it also bullied the damsel on occasion. I have a Longnose Hawkfish and an Aiptasia Eating File Fish, and they generally leave the damsel alone. All of this in a 40 gallon tank.

It is a pretty fish though. Looks almost identical to a yellow tail, only the yellow portion covers a little more of the tail end of the fish, up to a part of the dorsal fin. I may try to get a picture of it. It tends to swim out in the open quite a bit. I can honestly say I really like this one.

Anyone keeping the Azure Damselfish?

I have two currently and plan to add more eventually. I hope to add about 20ish green chromis as well. I have two Sgt. Major damsels that I’ve had for a year and a half. They’re as big and bigger than my powder blue! The largest is a good 5 inches from tall to mouth, and the smallest is very close to 5 inches now. They’re both about a half inch wide at their widest point! Yes, I love damsels. They can be bullies like my sulfur damsel but they all grew up together and get along.

I have four Azure damsels. Two hang out in one rock structure, and one is across the tank in another rock structure, and the fourth (the biggest one) gets chased to the top of the tank and beat to death every time I try to introduce him by the second biggest damsel so he lives the plush life in the sump until I can re-home him/her/it /them/ALL .They were all bought together and put in the tank together. But for whatever reason that one damsel will not tolerate that other damsel.

@McPuff I remember you had the Talbot’s (how many?) for like 13 years right? How old are your Azures and the Chromis (think that’s it) when they passed?

Hi, timely question. All of a sudden I'm down to a single azure damsel in my main display and another azure in my connected lagoon. The chromis must have been 15 years old and just disappeared one day. The same was true of the other azures, the black and white damsel, and the talbotts. I suspect that one or both of the hawkfish may have eaten those fish but who knows. The hawkfish are both very aggressive, both are quite large and have very large mouths (golden hawk and an arc eye... very closely related). To be honest, I will almost certainly have to re-home them if I want to add any other fish (which I want to do). Anyway, I went from around 30 fish a few years ago to now having about 12. Definitely time to add some more. :0)
