Do TDS meters need calibration?

Hey guys, I am just wondering as I purchased a new RO/DI unit and would like to use my old In Line TDS meter but not sure how long these things accurately measure.

Any ideas?

It is a good idea to have a hand held meter. You could then compare the 2. I would think over time the inline could corrode due to always being in contact with water. I've had my hand held for probably 6 or 7 years and it is still working fine without any calibration.

Yes they do but you can't calibrate the inlines like you can a good handheld. I will take an handheld over the inlines any day. I own two dual inlines and when the batteries died i never replaced them since my two handhelds are so much more useful and accurate.

do i need to calibrate a handheld tds meter? If so, how often? thanks.

Find that handheld is better than the inline ones. Either way, they are cheap pieces of equipment and just a swag... so don't depend on them too much. I mean, they are like ten bucks, so what do you expect? :) 0-2 is probably fine. 3-10 is OK. Anything over 10, or whatever, and you need to change out some stuff. I assume like a 100% error rate which works. Make up your own range numbers, but you get the idea.
