Hello all!

I'm a new soon to be parent to a new head on my Hammer coral. This is the first splitting my coral have done and it's really exciting to watch the process!

I noticed it had its mouth out more often so I started feeding it more often. Then I noticed new hammers growing in near the mouth.
Now the mouth is significantly longer and I can see the split taking shape.
I'm waiting anxiously to see it complete!
I'm sure I'll never get bored seeing these changes.

Now this applies to all you reefers, not just the LPS crew.

Do you remember the first time your coral split/grew a new head/spawned? Were you just as excited to watch the process?
Are you still excited every time you see it?

Mine was a frogspawn. It was really exciting. I wasn’t sure corals would survive in my tank yet. Had no idea what it looked like so I was just hoping I was seeing a split and sure enough I was. Was one of the first corals I got.

Yep, like it was yesterday. 3 months separates these two shots.

The first time I saw my frogspawn splitting, I thought something was wrong!! It reminded me of the Fantastic Four scene when Reed Richards face started 'melting and stretching'. The mouth got bigger and longer and I had zero clue as to what was going on. Absolutely freaked me out!!

Good trouble: Have mushrooms ever become pests in your aquarium?
