24/7/365 in a reactor.

I tried years ago not to run it. Never noticed any difference other then smell.

Leave your house for a while, come back in after it's been locked up. You get that "low tide" smell. Running carbon removes that smell.

Only reason I run carbon.

I run some in a reactor 24/7 and change it out every month or so.
It for water clarity or smell, ozone does that in spades, but to get rid of any contaminants that might have entered the water through dust, my hands etc.
The carbon is probably spent after a week or two but since I don’t use it for anything but making sure contaminants don’t build up I’m fine with that.

I don't run carbon, but I probably should. I got lucky when my sea apple died that it didn't poison the tank. But if you have anything that secretes even the smallest amount of toxins, I'd say carbon is a must. Don't be an idiot like me

I used to run it on all of my systems but HLLE was rife. When removed all of the tangs recovered and I have not used it since. I have been using ozone instead and although it may seem daunting to begin with what a huge difference to water quality! I’ve never seen clearer water.

Active on my 150 with a brs reactor and passive in the 30 nuvo in the form of chemi clean
How many of you are running GAC? Actively or passively?

I haven't run any in ages but I noticed during my last water change the old water was fairly colored.
I don’t. Swapped it out for a UV. Some data suggests HLLE from carbon.
