Does a universal light even exist?

So, in the hobby, there is such a large inventory of lights from which to choose. And what you select is based on the requirements of what you plan on keeping in your tank.

But is there a light on the market that can be considered "Universal"? A light that will support WHATEVER you put under it?

I imagine a light that would have controls to adjust power output and spectrum...

Thoughts?

Basically every decent led. Bigger tanks will require bigger units. Not stronger individual leds just more of the appropriate spectrum led’s.

of course there are the cheap lights with .5 and 1 watt chips. Those are basically a no go on anything except fish only.

This is such a question there are really no right answer as opinions differ from one to another .

my personal opinion … T5’s are as simple as it gets and you can put what ever you want under them .
there is no adjusting intensity just plug into a timer and leave them alone until it’s time to replace bulbs ( 8-12 months )
