I recently won a brand new Orphek Natura iCon Max light as a part of the recent Reef2Reef partner drive. While I am extremely grateful about winning it, now that I have it in hand I have no idea what to do with it and I would appreciate some suggestions.

I have always kept nano tanks. My largest tank is my current 40 gallon cube, which was only meant to be temporary anyways. I was going to replace it with a ~100 gallon waterbox, innovative marine, eshopps aquarium in a year or so, but now I feel a bit obligated to put a very nice piece of equipment to use over it collecting dust in the closet 😅

However, I also wanted to legitimize my coral frag side hustle. I plan on getting my Florida aquaculture license soon so I can actually sell some coral frags without getting into trouble (up until now I've just been trading for other corals and store credit). I planned on getting a couple 48" low-boys and building a rack system. This light has a 48"x30" spread but I feel like it would absolutely cook corals in a shallow low-boy aquarium. There is the alternative of a Fiji Cube shallow/frag tank which is around 15 inches deep, but considerably more expensive than the low-boys.

Whatever I end up doing, it will probably wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. I'm already eye-balling the Fiji Cube 20% off and Waterbox 20% off sales, but I'm really hoping the eshopps Mariner 100 goes on sale because I think that's the best bang-for-the-buck tank on my list. In fact, I bet 120 tickets on it for the partner drive raffles but didn't end up winning it... 😂

Anyways, what would you do if you had this light as the first piece of an unplanned aquarium setup?
