Yep. Me too. But what would you do if next time it didn't stink?

Definitely stinks but so do tanks in general. I suppose we get very used to the smell and tend not to notice it. However I have had people come over and comment that they notice the smell. Not hold your nose stinky but enough to make a comment. Also a lot reefers prefer not to spray scents or burn candles so the house gets a little stale. I tried to open doors and windows as much as possible when weather permitted. I also ran GAC 24/7.

I did last night just because of this thread. Mine didn't smell like much, but I feed light, run dry and clean it regularly. I do work with trout everyday so my fishy sense of smell is lacking. My wife say I have "hatchery hair" on some days, she can smell the musty rain gear/fish food.

I do.

I also pour it down the kitchen sink and “ forget” to rinse the sink. Want to talk about a dirty bomb. I wait to see who comes by first, wife or kid . Then laugh at their reactions

It's funny because I do also and yes it does not smell great. It is weird though because I actually like the smell of clean fresh skimmate. When the cup is cleaned and put back on I am guilty of taking a couple whiffs because it smells good. Now when it gets nasty then that is when I tend to let it go. I always wondered if I was the only one who did this........

LOL, for sure best way to make sure the skimmer is dialled in just right... You don't have to try too hard mind you, pop the cap and the smell jumps out and punches you in the face
