The peppermint shrimp worked great
I haven’t seen any digitates or aiptasia in a long time. I have not seen any shrimp either though.
Charlie, thanks for the update. I have several of these popping up and causing problems. One just stung my new Speciosa (Cpt. Crozier) so bad I had to re-cut it. Luckily it was right at the base.

So have you had any issues with the peppermint damaging corals? I got one about 4 yrs ago and as soon as I put it in the tank it migrated to a Stylophora and starting ripping polyps out of it! Haven’t tried one since....

About three years is all that you can expect the peppermints to live. Make a mental note to replace them about then. I have never had them eat any coral, but I also make sure that they are fed. They are not coral eaters, but they probably will before they starve... and so would any of us.

I get mine from reeftopia.com so that I know that they came from the Florida Keys.

My reef minions are stupidly well fed lol. I can’t bring myself to even let them go 1 day without a feast.

What is the benefit/reason you want one from the Keys?

They eat the aiptasia. There are about eight? varieites of peppermints in the Gulf and Atlantic. The ones from the keys L. Wurdemanni are the best. The other ones are OK, but hit or miss and these are nearly 100%. I am not good enough to know how to identify them by looking at them, so I don't chance it and just order from ReefTopia where I know what I am getting.

I don’t have aiptasia, knock on wood, but I have seen several of these hydroids. Thanks for the info!

i had one rock overrun with them as well as bryopsis... won the bryopsis battle with lettuce nudi, emerald, and pitho crabs (and dolabella sea hare until it died due to nutrient spike). now it's the hydroid war..

thanks @jda for the recommendation.

I had a ton, one day added a 6line and aptasia filefish and they were all gone in 2 days. Not sure which was responsible since I added both fish at the same time but I’m not complaining!

My 6 line is a constant hunter. She’s not touched any of them.

I found 7 last night after lights out. They were all attached to the bottom of plugs. Grrr
Here’s a pic of a Jolt frag that I could never get happy. One side of the frag would always lose tissue. Well guess what side the Digatate was on? o_O I’m guessing I won’t have anymore tissue issues with this frag now....
