Is it true that if you don't add anything to your tank for 3-4 months that your sps will grow faster? I've got roughly 24-26 different sps frags/minicolonies/colonies in my 80 rimless now and things are going great but I'm afraid I'll run out of room when all my frags grow out. Basically what I'm asking is, "Does adding coral effect growth?" Sorry for the confusion, it's the best way I could word it haha

I suppose it could if you added more and you didn't keep up with dosing. More coral requires more calcium....
But if you keep up with it, absolutely not. And when they grow out you just need to frag them back

I run a calcium reactor but it's essentially the same principle I suppose. More hard coral= more calcium as you said. I think I going to attempt to not add anything for 4 months and just observe growth. Easier said than done lol

I think that there is some validity to this, but I do not have actual facts to back it up with acros
I think corals may have a sixth sense of proximity due to chemical signals and release
Generally we think of softies and algae with chemical warfare but I think our understanding of such things is just beginning
Sessile organism have evolved to compete for space so I do not see why growth couldn't be stunted a little by overcrowding
