The tubing material is unimportant because it won’t have any UV exposure.

Should be safe to use. 🙂

Almost, as some light may leak out the ends of the fixture? (Not familiar with this specific unit) Short term it's still going to be fine, but keep an eye out if you can see blue light leaking (look at night.) It may degrade this tubing, or any plastic nearby.

You do have a point. There might be some light spillage depending on the unit.

Let me see if I can find out what material is UV resistant.

These things are designed for flex hose, but the life expectancy???

I used flex PVC to plumb mine, but I am not certain if they use UV inhibitors is flex PVC?

Whats the verdict need to buy tubing
My opinion?

Buy whatever you want. It will take a long time for it to degrade. If it does get brittle, just change the tubing.

Just my opinion. I’m surprised you didn’t buy one already. Has the UV been sitting around all this time?

So i am confused theres no tubing on the market specifically made for UVs?
Tubing can be resistant at best. It’s really not necessary.

I’m sure they have truly resistant tubing, but it’s way too expensive and unnecessary. Nobody is buying those.

Does that tubing work for uv sterilizer like the aquaclear uv 25w https://amzn.to/4f4p1W8 or do i need some specific tubing?
Not sure if it's exactly the same but I just used black vinyl tubing when I set up my 55w UV. I have no idea if I should have used something else or not because i never gave it a thought. One of the advantages of being a simpleton is that things are much simpler lol

That's what I use on mine. Just off a manifold in back of my tank to a piece of black vinyl tubing into the UV. No trouble so far after 2 years.

Up date this thread if / when the tubing fails. Bonus if you include pictures.

Here’s the condition of 3/4” ID braided vinyl tubing after over a half-decade of sitting outdoors year-round in direct california sunlight…

— it’s stiffer, and the exterior of the vinyl is opaque yellow/becoming brittle; but I’d be willing to bet it would still happily hold city water pressure!

The PVC tubing on my fertilizer injectors gets ~3hrs direct sun per-day, and is just starting to go opaque yellow after 12-13 years of continuous service in an outdoor environment!

It should be noted that I’ve also tried yellowing newspaper with direct sunlight, vs a concentrated beam from a 34W germicidal surface sterilizer UV, for a month straight… the difference is night and day! (Pun intended) — the sun releases orders of magnitude more UV in all spectrums than our typical UV water sterilizers!
