I have a 40 gallon breeder reef tank that I want to find some new lights for. I was originally going to light it with 2 new AI primes, but I've found a lightly used AP700 for around $350-400, and am curious if the kessil would be a better option. I know it's an older light so that's why im a little suspicious compared to some new ai primes.

I was also thinking about x2 kessil 360x on the tank but that sounds a little overkill imo.

Well I am still using a Kessil a360we, released two years before the AP700, on my 125g mixed reef with little problems. I am supplementing it with some T5s for a bit more variety in lighting spectrum, but for 12 year old lighting fixtures, not bad!

Depends on your color preference. The ap700 is a great light, I had them on a couple different tanks. It does not have that deep uv black light glow if that’s what you’re looking to achieve.
