So I went to Home Depot looking for some black window film but they were out. . . I though "well this tank will have white sand. . . Maybe a white background?" Well they didn't have white so I got the next best thing.

Think I will wait until I can find some black window film

I mean, I kinda like it. It's different for sure!! Will keep the fish from thinking they can swim through it. Its growing on me. Why be like anyone else? Well done!

I hate to say it, but I kind of agree with @edsbeaker above :)

I don't think that Home Depot carries the kind of vinyl needed to warp a tank. Try an online source, or a local sign making shop should have the matierial.

I have spent most of my life painting tanks, and I've tried almost every paint. I recently tried the vinyl wrap, and I absolutely will never paint another tank. It's beyond easier, there's no cleanup or drips, and it's really easy to peel off if/when you you need to.

Vinyl wrapping for the win! (EDIT: This is not my video):

I still like it 😆

The Home depot "black out" window tint actually works really well. Not totally opaque, but with the super bright lights in the tank you could never tell:

I usually paint as well, preferably spray paint but the weather has not been agreeable. . .

Wow! I liked the white. 😏

Haha, sorry, but it does not look well! I think you can get a better background sooner or later.

I'll mention that around 2016 or so I purchased a 40 gallon Innovative Marine Nuvo BLACK, which is NOT an AIO tank. This now discontinued tank had what they called a "smoked" back pane of glass. Unfortunately, this "smoked" panel didn't hid any equipment:

I've had this tank in a box in storage since 2016. I am now going to drill it and set it up as a "display fuge" running off my future 150 gallon DT.

I am going to wrap the back in black vinyl because the "smoked" background allows light and equipment to be seen from the front, which to me is not what I want.

It looks cracked lol! I say ditch it entirely until you can get black or another solid color! Check your LFS or Amazon.
Wait! Tell us how you really feel :)

Honestly I’ll give you bonus points on being creative, haha. Knowing me, I would look at it daily and think the back of my tank has spider web cracked, but then realize it’s nothing abnormal for that tank.

Honestly, I kind of like it! But if you are already on the fence about it, it is probably best to look elsewhere to get the look you like.

It reminds me of the fake snow stuff they put on windows around Christmas time.

@MoshJosh what exactly was this? Some kind of film or a spray of some kind?
