It reminds me of the fake snow stuff they put on windows around Christmas time.

@MoshJosh what exactly was this? Some kind of film or a spray of some kind?
I think its a film. He went and got the black I think.

It does look different. If you were thinking black, I have had several tanks that I set up that I just cleaned with rubbing alcohol or something similar and sprayed painted the outside of the back panel black .. never had an issue. The back doesn't see a lot of traffic or abuse so it's not likely to get scratched or otherwise jacked up.

I have done the "fogged" look on fw tanks with a couple rgb led strips on the top and bottom. Very cool effect. Not so sure in a reef tank though. The fogged vinyl allows light to penetrate but its muted dark blue and light blue make a very cool water depth transition look.

Yeah I used to do fogged on the back of my freshwater too!!! Nice look for those tanks for sure. . . Might work on a reef but the "crushed crystal" look this has might be a stretch haha

+1 to adding LEDS and keeping frosted! Someone else on here has a better example. Heres mine w/frosted glass backlit with LEDs and changes throughout the day.

Looks amazing! I love the bazillion corals..is that a leather coral? The tall looking mushroom?

I'll mention that around 2016 or so I purchased a 40 gallon Innovative Marine Nuvo BLACK, which is NOT an AIO tank. This now discontinued tank had what they called a "smoked" back pane of glass. Unfortunately, this "smoked" panel didn't hid any equipment:

I've had this tank in a box in storage since 2016. I am now going to drill it and set it up as a "display fuge" running off my future 150 gallon DT.

I am going to wrap the back in black vinyl because the "smoked" background allows light and equipment to be seen from the front, which to me is not what I want.
That is the same tank as my Franken cube. I love that tank! I would like to buy it off of you! To be honest I barley see any pipes with the smoked glass. I would love to replace my RS170 tank with another IM40 It is the same footprint.

Really?? Does it look darker with tank lights on? I’ve never had water in this tank in all the years I’ve had it lol!

Thanks in advance for your help!
