DONT GET A: Six line Wrasse

This fish has been a pain in the butt the second he got used to my tank. He has been very aggressive towards my clownfish, and has not let me put a single non snail invert in my tank, as he destroyed a new cleaner shrimp less than a day after adding it in. This fish is also very selfish as it tears seaweed right off the clip and hides under a cave and eats almost an entire 1inch x 2inch piece of seaweed. DON'T GET THIS FISH

I'd have to agree. My little guy was a hassle and a pain. When I got him he wounded himself against the rocks and his wound got worse while he kept swimming and rubbing against the rocks, he eventually passed while in QT after I got him out.

It was an absolute mess, I'm so glad I have only a 20g nano. It kept hiding whenever I'd get within 3 feet from the tank. I couldn't catch it to get it out to QT it until working from 5pm to 2am to get it out, and lots of sweating and yelling at myself and the tank, I'm sure my neighbors thought I was dying. After googling and reading pages and pages and pages, people say "just get a trap" that doesn't work all the time. I finally found what works and works like a charm, but it's a hassle; I got 4 five gallon buckets (Im so grateful for only having a 20g nano) and put them in a row next to my tank and drained away until water was 4 inches from the bottom and low and behold the wrasse shot out from the rockwork, I snatched him up and pumped the same tank water back in.

Never again.

I have one that is pleasant to its tank mates but I went to add a fish similar size and shape and it was hitting the bag it was in wanting it lol so I put it in my 120. Then I added a larger fish not the same shape and had no issues

So what would be a good replacement for this guy. I have a 55.

Not sure what's wrong with ya'lls six lines but it sure aint how they want to act - must be their environment... they like a LOT of rock and a steady pod population.

I think I got mine at seafari back in the day. He was the second thing I added too, which typically makes them more agressive. My money is on rock, nutrition and pods :P

I agree with the Melanarus suggestion. Not only are they hard workers, but they tend to be relatively docile wrasses in my experience. JUST BUY THEM SMALL AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE ONE OF THE LAST FISH ADDED. Also, don't worry if the only juvenile you can get is a female (no offense to the ladies, but Melanarus females are drab) because it'll convert to a male if its the only Melanarus in the tank. Also, I bought three little yellow coris wrasses for my tank too and I love them. Very peaceful and hard working
