If ur on the cheap but still want it to look good , make a frame about a inch or two larger then the opening and then find a nice looking fabric to folding over the frame stapling it to the back of the frame . Then fasten to the stand with Velcro . :smiling-face-with-sunglasses:

Your getting off easy. Doors should be easy peasy. I just set up a new reefer xl 300 in our dining room. My Gal said it's huge. I said it's only 2 inches taller and deeper and 12 inches longer than the reefer 170 in our bedroom. She repeats its huge. I repeat the meaurments again. So she asks how much water it holds and I say 65 gallons tank volume. She then asks how much water volume is the reefer 170 tank (I know i'm in trouble now) as I reply 34 gallons. It's twice as big she says and that makes it huge she says and walks away. So I have a few drinks eat a gummy and at 3am I complete the move and now have an awesome tank in our spare bedroom / computer room. I guess I'm lucky that at least there's a bed in there. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

You can make doors from just a piece of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood, and anything to use as molding to coverup that it is plywood.
Inexpensive hinges.

I did not. 15yrs ago I finished the basement and had a cabinet builder custom build entertainment center and Tank stand.

Make a shaker style door with a clear, inset panel of either glass or acrylic. Call it a "compromise", sleep on the couch for a week, and then get back to enjoying the view.

Could do a hanging barn door style, so you could slide it open and closed. The rail could be mounted on the top 2x4.

I’d do a Flat Panel, Glue and Screw a Thin Piece of Wood, “Screen Batten.” to the inside bottom, so it extends about a half inch past the bottom edge. This will be your bottom mount. The push in to catch push out to release cabinet magnetic Catches. For a Plywood Panel there is wood veneer edging. Super easy to use, as you use an Iron to apply it. You’ll need a veneer trimmer to trim it flush with the plywood. Two to Four Coats of Satin Spar Varnish, wait a month, you can still use the door. Finally Paint the outside with Spray paint, to match. BTW, I would only paint the outside with a Solid Color. Leave the inside clear, so you can check the wood‘s condition. My hinged doors always seem to get in the way, when I’m working on the sump.

Ha, not yet. I'm leaning towards just doing a piece of plywood with some trim hung by magnets. The wife thought frosted glass might look cool backlit but I'm struggling finding something in the size I need. It's kind of on the back burner as I ignore tank as it goes through the cycle. The hard part lol

You can get a sheet of polycarbonate and cut it to size, and then affix it with magnets. A cheap LED strip can handle the lighting. Or, If you're concerned about scratches, a glazier can cut class for you. Though, given the location, I'd be more concerned about shatter than scratch.
