I have a Apex 2016 including a trident. I'm currently dosing all for reef using a Kamoer X1 Pro. I also have a DOS that was intended for water changes that I've never used. Question I'm contemplating is whether I should sell it. Or does it work together with a Trident and dose according to the readings? If so can it work with all for reef? Or would I need to switch to 2 part?

Switch the A4R to the DOS. This way you can use the Trident to adjust the A4R dosing to dail in the Alk/Calc parameters that you want! Very simple to do!

While I'm certainly no expert, and don't use all4reef. I would think you would loose the ability to have the trident autodose. Simply because of the way all for reef works.

I would think you would have to switch to a more traditional 2 part.

This is where I'm confused since both responses so far are totally opposite. lol :)

Do you only have it dose based on the alk reading?
Correct!

I don't use it, just my thoughts on how the trident, DOS, and what I know about A4R.

If it works, and someone uses it, then go for it, it's a great way to achieve stability.

Any chance you have an issue with calcium reading super high on your trident? That seems like a common problem.
Every now and then I do get an unusually high calcium reading from the Trident but always corrects quickly. Very important to have fresh reagents and calibrate correctly.

I use AFR but not on a controller. It is my understanding AFR takes a couple days to settle in after a dosage adjustment. This may be difficult to get stable with a controller.

Okay thanks. I have refresh reagents. I'm planning on calibrating again to see if it corrects itself.
