hi all ! First post on this forum, hope you guys can help me out.

It looks like I have ich in my DT, despite all my QT protocol.

I want to know of anyone have tried this. I have some CP pills that I just bought for my QT tank, but I'm running copper at the moment.

I already have ick shield pellets that already have CP in it but I mix it with other regular food so I don't think it's as effective as it should be, that's why I want to soak all the food in CP.

Is there a dose? Is there a danger of overdosing and killing all the fish?

Thanks for the help.

Welcome aboard, JuanManuelSanchez!

I don't know whether anyone's tried that - CP is normally dosed in the water, as it kills the free-swimming stage of the ich parasite. (I am aware of a food preparation that claims to include the stuff, but don't know anything of its effectiveness.) Anyway, if there's anyone who knows the info you're looking for, it's probably either @melypr1985, @Humblefish or @aykwm. Those folks amaze me daily.

Sorry but that's not what I'm asking

I don't have a dosage for feeding CP to fish, but I'll tell you that CP will make the food very bitter and it's unlikely that the fish will eat it at all unless they aren't picky in the least or you cover it with something very strong. I'm sure Humble will have a better idea for you as he's done more experimenting with CP than I have at this point. IME, CP causes food that remains in the water to taste nasty (ex. Nori).

You can feed CP laced food whilst dosing copper or CP, but I see little benefit from doing so. One downside is it may cause the fish to eat less (CP is bitter tasting), and that's the last thing you want when treating with meds...

Yeah I have seen that with the ick shield, that's why soak that food in garlic and let it dry again. It works most of the time.

And that's the plan, dose CP in food and soak it in garlic and see how that goes. But I don't want to kill the fish in a overdose.

Keep an eye on your copper level because that is where you risk of killing your fish is. CP, not so much.

Sadly the ich outbreak its getting worse. I don't know how much CP you need to ingest to make that effective.

As many things is this hobby there are no real evidence to say this wouldn't work. I will give it a try.
