Hi everyone,
I’ve been watching a lot of WWC videos and it seems that they always recommend to dose alk. I’d like to start dosing something that promotes coral growth but won’t spike the algae. Anyone have suggestions?

TIA :)

The alkalinity should remain anywhere from 7-11dKH. Pick a target and keep it there.

Alkalinity does not cause algae growth.

All For Reef is pretty bulletproof. I’d use that if I was just starting the hobby. It’s an all-in-one that keeps alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium in line.

thank you. what will I gain by dosing alk?
Maintaining proper alkalinity is crucial for coral growth and health, especially corals that have skeletons (stony corals.)

Do you have any corals right now?
