OK, I've started to dose red sea reef foundation program and I've been fiddling around with dosage and found the right dose to keep calcuim magnesium and kh stable, my question is how often would you preform water changes now? Monthly? every other month? I've been reading some people never do one and can go years without a change?

If you ever needed to do a water change, what would be the reasons for it?

That is a good question. I would do a 50%+ change if there was equipment failure, chemical contamination leading to coral loss.
I just dose the standard big 3. The food I feed covers the rest.

Its up to you, i dose just enuff daily so by the end of the week my levels are low enuff for the wc to bring it back up again. Take abit of daily testing.

The only reason I change water now is to export nutrients until I get the nutrients where I would like them.
I dose the balling Method to maintain my system :)

If you're testing/dosing Ca, Alk, Mg then I think you're fine with a monthly water change for a new tank. You just have to pay attention to your tank and see how the nutrient balance is working out. As long as you're exporting enough nutrients for your tank's bioload, you'll be good. I do 2-3 water changes a year. My tank doesn't complain
