Just hooked up my first dosing pump. Less expensive pump as I will only be dosing small amounts. I calibrated and set up different dosing intervals. I have noticed the airline tubing emptying back into the bottle after it doses. Is this normal?

You want the fluid to stay in the tubes, otherwise the amount dosed will be incorrect. You will need to either move the containers closer to the pump or add check valves to the lines going to the pump

Thank you for your reply. I have the bottles less than 8 inches away from pump..

You need to install check valves and no not all dosing pumps do this.:) I have installed container 10 feet from where the the outlet line discharges into the tank without this happening.

So it's just dependent on the pump? Can you please let me know where I would go about getting check valves that would fit airline tubing?

Do you have any suggestion where to put these check valves? Which side of the pump do they go on?

I put my check valves on the outlet side as I do not want solutions to drain backwards into the container. My current tank is a IM 40 so I am pumping solutions up and into the aquarium. So I want to keep the lines full of liquid I install check valves to keep the out up lines full.

Id look at the heads sounds like it has an air leak, if its draining back into the containers

Generally I have fluid in my dosing lines. Other wise the amount of fluid deliver would change by the the length of the line going to where you are dosing

I actually got new air line tubing. I heard the clear kind you buy has small holes in it and allows air in which doesn't allow the liquid to stay inside the tubing

I ask because I just got a new doser and all the liquid was out of the tubes after I calibrated it so I tried to put ten ml out and only five came out

You can't but you will learn to trust it when you watch a few doses. Just run the line until it starts to drip then it is ready to go
