Dosing too much Nopox?

IMO you need the right bacterial culture for the NoPoX to stimulate. You may find that after adding a small amount of some new bacteria to the system (such as MB7 or Prodibio) that your nutrients will be reduced - I don’t think is your goal here - and the NoPoX dose could be tapered. YMMV and I’m not suggesting miracle in a bottle.

Dosed both early on in setting this tank up, I’m thinking maybe my siporax isn’t getting decent flow around. Just guessing at this point.

It often takes a while to see the effects of carbon dosing. I do not think it likely that NOPOX is more cost effective than a properly made DIY, but as long as it works for you, there’s no reason to change. :)

It is real Nopox, the diy stuff has no affect o my my system. Been dosing it at that amount about a year. My previous tank was stable on about 6ml a day. I’m not really seeing any negative affects. Strange thing is I don’t even feed that much (3 cubes a day). I have loads of siporax and not many fish, maybe 12, only 3 tangs…

How's it working for you? Im also using more than recommended diy nopox and curious why it's not going down as fast as it was before. I have a potassium test kit on the way.

Old thread but I’m picking this back up to see if anyone out there has advice on this. I have a 250g sys and I’ve been dosing 30mL Red Sea nopox for about 3 months.

Po4 - 0.1

I’m thinking about rehoming 2 fish as I’m heavily stocked. And then I plan on switching to vodka to see if I can save on $. Will I have to restart my dosing regime to rebuild the bacteria and effectiveness? Or can I continue dosing at the same amount and see where things go?

I switched to biopellets and have like 15 fish in a 90g. I find it easier since there's no guessing or adjusting amounts, the pellets twirl and balance itself out with available nitrate, my nitrate stays 5-10 this past year, I refill like half a cup every 6 month ish

Oh wow. I’ve always heard those things can become the opposite and turn into nitrate factories but I do like the idea!

Simply switch to the DIY version of NOPOX and you shouldn't notice any differences. Mix 500mls vinegar, 375mls Vodka and 125mls RO/DI water.
