Hi everyone!

So I have fully cycled my aquarium and now had fish in for about three weeks. Im about to embark on learning how to dose ahead of adding corals (still will wait for parameters to settle and address some issues). I bough the premixed Tropic Marin balling set and now wish to address my low alkalinity.

Here the instructions I found: 30 ml / 1 fl.oz of each solution raise the calcium concentration of 10 US-gal./35 l by 15 mg/l (ppm) calcium and 2.2 °dH. The maximum recommended dose is 60 ml / 2 fl.oz. of each solution per 10 US-gal./35 l per day.

System is 140 litres. I will aim to up Alkalinity to 8 (?).
Current Alkalinity 5.8 with Ph 7.9

Now I find the instructions a bit confusing. Here my questions:

1. As I only wish to increase my Alkalinity, can I skip dosing Part A?
2. I will increase Alkalinity by 1.1 dh (for simplicity based on dosing instructions) daily until I reach target. So that would be 60ml of Part B and C, correct?
3. Do you recommend that I get a PH buffer? If so, which brand?
4. Alkalinity Dh 8 recommended?

Advice much appreciated!

Im my experience,

Youre not going to get very far with dosing a fish only tank. It can get out of control quick in a low consumption tank.
Any consumption will be taken care of by your water changes quickly and easily.

I would hand dose to your desired levels and start testing regularly to see your consumption....(it wont be much at first)
Then once you get the hang and start adding corals, youre really ready with your husbandry and can address auto dosing when the tank actually needs it.
