Just wanted to say hello to you all. I have been reading a lot on this forum and others as well. I have been keeping seahorses only for a short time. Maybe like 8 months or so and am addicted to learning about them and watching/interacting with them.

I have been searching high and low for dragons breath and dragons tongue macro but everywhere I look is sold out of it. I have bought different macros from Gulf Coast Ecosystems in the past but they are also out. Anyone know where I can find good portions of them for a reasonable price?

Thanks!

Hi samina and welcome to R2R. Have you checked the buying and selling? Someone on R2R might have some dragon's breath that they would be willing to sell.

We would love to see your ponies and tank.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I have to say, I have a lot of respect for you all, I have read probably hundreds of posts from you guys and admire your knowledge.

I tried eBay but I could only really find small drags. I was looking more for a nice size piece, close to a handful maybe. No luck on the buy/sell forum either.

Attached below are some pics of my tank, let me know what you think, seriously feel free to critique!

Some info:
55g
5 H. Erectus (2 makes, 3 females)
2 Bengai Cardinals
Green Chromis
Yellow Watchman Goby
2 Fire Shrimp
2 Sexy Shrimp
Small Hermits
Cerith, Nerite, and Nassarius Snails

Yes sorry I was turning the whites on to take a cpl of pics... this started as my wife’s tanks she wanted seahorses (we also have a mixed reef) aldo I pick most of what goes in it and maintain it. (My girls are still little 14 months and 4 months so the big one just goes and slaps the glass and laughs)
It’s about done now to where we want it just have to let stuff start growing.
We have
4 Erectus horses (2 F & 2 M)
1 sand goby
1 scooter dragonet
1 pipefish
Sponge
3 feather duster, 1 coco worm
A pair of Harlequim shrimp (you can see them eating a starfish)
1 sponge
Corals;
3 different GSP; Xenia; blue Xenia; 2 gorgonian; toadstool leather; devil hand leather; cabbage leather; finger leather; Kenya tree; palm clove; pipe organ; cauliflower; 7 acans; 12 zoas (mix don’t know names);
I know Xenia gets out of control buts it’s a separate rock. And GSP as long as u trim from time to time I hope I can control. (I wanted the GSP on the rock kind of like the look of grass for the horses)

I think I remembered everything LOL.

One thing I noticed with your horses is your F is yellow and the M is dark. I don’t know if maybe we got them from the same source but mine are also the same both F are yellow and both M are grey to black depending on the day when there pregnant and about to give birth they get very dark.
My horses are captive bred so they eat frozen.

I can send you a piece for free if you just cover shipping.
Let me know.

Wow that is very generous of you! Thank you! How much would shipping be? I would love to pay something in addition to the shipping just because of the time and effort it will take for you to ship it. Let me know what you would like either through here or a message. Thank you!!

Shoot me a PM and we will sort out shipping. Don’t worry about paying me, my post office is down the street from my house so it should be pretty quick.

Wow your tank is beautiful!! I too am looking forward to everything growing out now. I had bought them from SaltwaterFish if I recall correctly. Is that where you bought yours from? They eat frozen mysis as well and were CB. I have not had to deal with their pregnancies or birth yet so I’m glad. I don’t think I’m ready for that yet lol.

And congrats on your little one! I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. They sure keep you busy lol

No I got them from a breeder in Florida, it was a cpl of hrs from my house so was able to go pick them up. CB is the way to go I give them live food when I go to the LFS just so they have some fun but eating frozen is one less headache. I have to buy copepods for the pipe-fish from time to time (hoping to start culturing next year) and I buy sand shifting stars every cpl of weeks for the harlequin so having the horses eat frozen is great. It works out because there all peaceful tankmates.

Ive had 2 births already but havent had the courage to raise the Fry, Between both tanks and my 2 girls its alot of work as it is LOL.
