Just picked up my tank and one of the things about it that always seemed a little strange to me was it has a 1.5" main drain and then .75" emergency drain. Should those be reversed?

I would use an adapter and make that main drain 1". You want to make sure the emergency drain can drain as much water as the pump puts out.
