Hello I just purchased a used Aqueon 40 breeder. I’m trying to find out how to tell if any of the panels are tempered to be able to drill it. I’ve looked at charts on their website but I don’t know how updated they are.

Aqueon 40 breeder should not have tempered glass. At least mine didnt. I'd still do the sunglasses trick mentioned above just be be safe :) and welcome to R2R

The back panel of the Aqueon 40b is not tempered.

That’s what I have and I drilled mine!

Can you post a pick of where your overflow is and your return is at on your 40b? I did the sunglasses test and also used a computer monitor and the bottom panel appeared to be tempered but the back and side aren’t. I’m going to try again tonight with my laptop to be 110% sure.

Do you have a pic of it?
Sure

The drain plug on the left was my first attempt which wound up lower than anticipated so measure 5X and drill once!! doesnt bother me as this is a temp setup ill lrobably be tearing apart in less than a year.

!!! Welcome to R2R !!! I drilled my Aqueon 40g breeder. You can find pics on my thread. I use the Eshopps Eclipse S overflow and works perfect and easy to install.
