Drilling holes and not level

I just drilled my first tank. I have a 75g rimmed tank from Petco. The drilling process, super easy, much easier than I thought. The measuring and leveling and everything else(the important stuff). Not so much….: With my tank being rimmed, the guide they give was basically useless. So I measured, and measured again. Lined everything up. Failed. So when I put the weir in, it just barely hits the rimmed part of the tank, I didn’t go low enough. Only thing I can think of is to take that side of the rim off, or maybe I can get away with sanding a little bit down, I mean, we’re talking centimeters. And it’s hard to say now because I can’t get the whole thing on yet, but the overflow box may not be completely level when it’s finally fitted on. How much trouble am I in, taking a piece of the rim off, and not being level? Any advice, or should I just count my losses, tank was only like $60 after coupons and discounts. But still, I built a nice stand and everything lol.

Wait that’s very possible too lol. Sorry, I’m all flustered because I ticked myself off from this. What about the whole not being 100% level thing? Is that a big deal?

… would it be possible to sand/file down the threads ONLY at the base (near the flange) of the bulkhead fitting, where the threads contact the walls of the glass hole? 1mm there is many MM of movement way out on what is effectively a lever!

Oh don’t file the glass!! That’s asking for chips!

Focus on the threaded plastic parts that goes through the drilled glass holes!

The threads do nothing for the structural strength of that part; you just NEED to keep them intact where the exterior threaded collar will tighten down…

This gives you 1/4” of threads right at the interior overflow box to play with, sanding/filing them off the side which is hitting the side wall of the glass hole will give you that extra bit of wiggle room to clear the plastic rim!
