Drop-off reef question

Question to those who have drop off reefs.

I always wondered, in a drop off reef when you have pistol shrimp and goby do they sit in the bottom part all the time or do they travel all around the tank?


I’ve never seen pistol shrimp swim in water they only walk hence my interest.

I think they can swim some but choose not to because they're basically blind?

If you make a rock bridge/ramp for them to climb up it would make it easier but typically once they pick a spot they rarely move from it.
