Dual sump build for 300 gal

Hi, I am wondering if I can use 2 different sump for 1 aquarium. One sump is eshopps that blue bio balls 36L16h14w, other is trigger Ruby36, 36L16h15w.
Is there a way to connect both sump or is it beneficial to use both or just one. Also is there a better option to remove old eshopps sump from stand before I start cutting into the wood. I was told that the aquarium was by dallas north aquarium. Would like everyone input and advise Thanks.

Hmm… interesting! I presume there’s no way to talk you into removing that beast of a tank from the stand so you can pull out the old sump intact, and sneak a larger sump in through the stand top?

I’ve seen various ways to connect two sumps together; I personally like the idea of two large bulkhead fittings connecting sumps together… that does require some careful thought in the plumbing though!

Regarding getting the old sump out; short of just smashing it up with a hammer, or removing from the top of the stand… What about cutting the silicone seams with a razor to remove it as sheets of glass?

Is the wood glued in/tongue and grooves into the stand? If it’s just screwed in; you can always remove, then replace it!

I was thinking about that, it's has a hex type screw that is use to connect the wood, I just thought it's a certain trick to do it incase someone wanted to change sump style

Oh that’s just an Allen, or Torx head screw! As long as the wood isn’t glued down too; it can definitely be removed, then replaced, or reinstalled!

It could be worth consulting with a carpenter on this one; a full sized sump on a tank like that will make a world of difference!
