Duncan bubble

Anyone know why some of the heads are doing this? I have an another colony that is not doing this. Thanks.

I am unsure but it looks like the Duncan’s were trying to become a bounce mushroom.

Hey! My Duncan is doing the same thing. But the colony next to it is just fine. Any ideas? It was fully extended two days ago. it does this once in awhile

You see this with types of LPS, no one knows the cause or causes.
It appears to be self limiting, and doesn't affect the coral adversely.
Speculation is that lighting my be the cause and or alterations in water chemistry. I am in the lighting camp.

i agree with lighting, there's a chalice frag at lfs that was normal a week ago and has developed to small "bounces"

Mine have almost gone away in that colony. I suspect the cause in my case was zero nitrate and phosphate for most of the life of that colony in my tank. My tank has always been running ulns. I’ve been increasing those levels over the past couple months, with ammonium bicarbonate and sodium diabasic and the bubbles are going away. My observation only and may not be the case of yours. Out of curiosity, what are your levels?
