Duncan HELP

I’ve had this Duncan in the DT for over a month and it’s been doing great. You can see new heads on the polyp on the right. Last two days the left polyp has been on/off withdrawn. Yesterday there was a small bit of flesh at the base missing. Today it has gotten bigger and has been mostly closed.
The only thing changed abt the tank is that over the last week I have started dosing 2 part. B ionic. Slowly to get from cal 380 to 420 as where it is now.

And to you know where your nitrates and phosphates are at?

Thanks for responding. I think it’s getting worse.
DT has been running for 15 months
I just check nitrate and it looked about 3-5. I do not have a test for phosphate but I do have phosguard on hand.

I would not run GFO without knowing what your phosphates are.

Are the rest of your corals okay?

Following as I’ve got two similar sized Duncan heads placed side-by-side in my rockwork, with one seemingly withdrawn with same appearance. Might this just be one bothering the other?

FWIW:
When my duncans were a two head colony, it would close for days at a time.
And the B ionic may have freaked yours out, but I'd keep my eye on the side that chipped off.

When their small, they can be sensitive and close up for unknown reasons.

I would not run GFO without knowing what your phosphates are.

Are the rest of your corals okay?

Yes. The candy cane, brain, chalice& Zoas are all looking fine, great even.
I just ordered a phos test which I should have on Monday, but I agree, I don’t want to throw treatments at an unknown variable. Just hope the little guy can hold on.

Well here is an update. The Duncan eventually shed its skin then the head of one polyp then the other head succomed to the same fate. :(At one point I thought my Emerald crab was the cause since I saw him latched onto the coral just picking away.:eek: Checked some threads here on the possibility that he was the cause but the opinions were mixed. I chalked it up to RTN/STN since every thing else was thriving.
Several weeks later, Post WWC live sale and I have two more Duncan’s :Dand they look great. Doing well along with the rest. It’s been about two weeks and I Come home today and guess who’s clamped on and chowing down?;Rage
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and you now get to live the Fuge life. Hopefully I got to it in time that the Duncan will recover.

Yeah, I was going to suggest it was predation. Duncans are super tough. I bet it will recover just fine, feed him to give it some boost.

Thanks for that tip. I wondered if a dip too would help or just stress him out more.
