What the heck happened….
Literally in 24 hours my Duncan went from happy and healthy to this photo… I think it died.. it just shrank into itself and I don’t think it’s coming back. Last week I did a water change. I looked at the top of its stump and it almost looks like a film is over it… is it gone for good? Any suggestions?

They really can go South fast. :( I think if there is any slim hope for that one, it's probably by doing nothing; I'd guess that 90% of the attempts to 'help' it would be it's last straw.

Just do a small water change. That's the first thing I do when I feel like something's off.

I read a while ago that duncans are a good barometer for water quality. When they don’t like something they show you. They are hardy, but you should act. Anecdotally, for me it seems to be the case.

Having said that, you didn’t post your water parameters to see if people have opinions for values that might be problematic.

Also, duncans don’t have defensive/offensive sweepers like some other corals. The picture shows the plug by itself, but is there a neighbor nearby that may have long enough sweepers?

My first responders are the Duncans always the first showing something changed (good or bad). Just live it alone as longs as your parameters are good they will come around.
make sure no 0 phosphate and nitrate and mg alk and Ca in range.
