SCIENTIFIC NAME: Chaetodon flavirostris

COMMON NAME: Dusky Butterflyfish, Black Butterflyfish

SIZE: 7.8†(20 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE: 75 US Gal (284 L)

FOODS & FEEDING: Feeds on sessile invertebrates and zooplankton.

REEF COMPATIBILITY: Not recommended.

CAPTIVE CARE: The Dusky Butterflyfish should be provided with a peaceful community tank with ample swimming room and adequate hiding places. This species acclimates to captivity better if several individuals are introduced at the same time in a properly sized tank. However, they ship poorly and are often difficult to acclimate, often refusing to feed. Offer a varied diet of finely chopped marine fish, mussle, squid, and frozen butterflyfish fare.
