I just cleaned my algae for the first time in a week….lol
So glad my corals have survived with all that has transpired over the last week.
I neglected my tank and my alk went from 8.5 to 6.9

Hello and thanks for the info on rayjay. I'll look him up. While i have a different way of seeing things, i still like to learn things from those who have more experience.
At this point in time we are making a refugium. I'll add a pic. It's not much to see yet.

We added a double shot of tigger pods last month and they are propagating. Thinking about amphipods as well. Plenty time to research that. Mysis fry is a thought also. They are simple to culture and very nutritional.
As for vacationing, I'm in a pickle for now. Other than the spectacular staff at our favorite tacobell, we have no friends. To put that in context, we were once lost to hard drugs. We are now 6 years clean!! To be honest i do have a prescription card for natures herbal remedy.) So no one to ask for help. I'm working on an idea to auto feed but unfortunately it'll only work for 3days. It's something but a far cry from the week I'm trying to achieve.

Getting away for a week is the main reason that I don't still have seahorses. 2 of our kids and families are out of state 8+ hours away. It was just too hard to have someone come in everyday to feed them. With the big ponies I could buy live ghost/grass and shrimp and let them hunt for themselves and I did do that for weekend trips. My seahorses were lazy however and didn't really like hunting for themselves, they preferred the frozen mysis to just magically appear in their bowl at feeding time, LOL! I will be interested in watching how your system works! Who knows, maybe I will try dwarfs at some point.

They are spectacular!! We are super excited about this and would like to move forward faster. But when they arrive, the system will be 5 months mature. I'm disabled and have endless time to invest so so it's difficult to be so patient.

If the system is almost 5 months old, I would say that you are more patient than most of us!
Do you need any macroalgae? I am not sure where Radford is but I would be happy to send some codium which would be a great hitching algae. If you are not using reef lighting I can't be sure how it will do but it might be worth a try. I throw algae away every 3-4 weeks.

this is my fragrock. It is is small but growing. It will get big in time. More would be great. We're going with lots of fake stuff but real stuff mixed in.

I am in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. If you pm me your address I would be happy to mail it to you as it won't cost me much and the macros do OK in the mail, especially this time of year. I hate just throwing them away.
I will inspect it closely for hydroids but you may want to dip it in something macro safe that kills hydroids. I use to know what that was but have forgotten now. Hydroids are not a threat to the big seahorses so I never had to worry about that.

My husband Dave and I ride also. I agree that there are seasons for it and times to be "between bikes". Haha, I sold my first bike when I was about 20 yrs old and a poor, broke college student. My between bikes lasted 20 yrs and did not get another until I was 40. My husband didn't ride and didn't really like bikes but 2 yrs later he got one and was hooked. We have ridden from our house to all the lower 48 states and in 2023 we rode to Alaska! So I guess we are pretty die hard.

Hello all!! I'm proud to announce a small addition to our ranch. Yesterday, while dreaming at our lfs, brit spotted a stomatella moving across a rock. The little guy is now happily settled in his new home and ready to take his place as patriarch of a colony. We are back up to 2 now and hoping for an explosion of them.
