Easy bulkhead question

I think I know the answer but just want to confirm. Does the O ring on the bulkhead go on the inside (where the water is) or on the outside? See pictures for examples.

More importantly it needs to be on whichever side the flange of the bulkhead is on. Typically the flange and gasket go inside the aquarium and the nut of the bulkhead goes on the outside

This is on a mixing station. So based on the picture I would need to flip the bulkhead?

To keep it simple, Picture A is what you want. It doesn't matter which way the bulkhead is as long as the flange side has the gasket on it :)

Is one way preferred in terms of the bulkhead? Or just user preference? More important is the location of the gasket.

Gasket location is the most important.

With the nut side inside the brute you're probably going to have a hard time getting it tightened enough. But it's really up to you
