How does the push button get assigned to Sw1?

The breakout box has a slot for all 6 switches on it. So whatever one you put the wire in is the one it is assigned to. Here is a close up picture of mine. The wire is plugged into l1 which is switch one. The other wire goes into the ground/common slot.
