eBay prices seem too good to be true?

I’ve been comparison shopping, and there are NEW items like lights and pumps from vendors with high ratings, at close to half the retail cost. I don’t know how that’s possible short of the inventory “falling off a truck” so to speak. Does anybody know what the story is with these heavily discounted products?

The real question is if the items are what they're advertised. Can't be sure since there are lots of imitations coming out.

You know what they say about "if it's too good to be true"?

EDIT: also many items will not have a warranty if the seller isn't an authorized dealer.

Well its a pawn shop :) I think that explains the price on that one. Sicce is good so I would buy it if I needed one, no warranty probably but not likely to need it.

Lots of items are available on eBay that are sold as new that are refurbished or returned stuff that is resold in auctions.

The issue is that New isn’t technically true and I don’t think eBay has a Certified New option for a description category?

You have to see what they send and hope that it is good enough. The seller hopes that the money you save is enough motivation to make purchasers happy enough when they see what they get.
