I'm about to drill my new build to fit an Eclipse L overflow that has three drain bulk heads. An idea came to me that the Eclipse M only uses 2 drains so I'm wondering if I could plumb the L overflow that has 3 with the center drain line bulkhead inside the box fitted as a return line.

That would sleeken my plumbing at the back for sure as I wont be drilling holes for return lines. I would then split the return pipe out of the box with a T and use lock lines to guide water.

Any confirmations, opinions or negations are appreciated.

I'd think it could be done. However, the main difficulty that occurs to me is that if your return line is the same size as your drain, you may have a hard time getting everything plumbed and dialed in. Most return lines will run smaller than the drain.

3 holes in the box are designed for bean animal drains.

Suppose it could be done, but I would feel better about plumbing a bean animal, rather then a herbie.
