My Harley chews through the battery for some reason
Do you let it idle a lot without long enough rides to charge it fully?
Low idle will not charge the battery, but rather drain it.

The battery tender jr linked above is a great option for anyone wanting to use sealed batteries for MP backups

And that is why it dies so quickly over the winter..... Looks like I am ordering that little jr charger now for the battery for my MP. Crazy that all in, I am still spending less than the Ecotech backup, for a much better product. These forums are great.

I went to test mine last and the battery was just about dead..... Messed with the power plug and saw the green light was on... only to find out that the power plug was not fully plugged into the power brick..... Put it in all the way... the light turned red for charging... and has been fine ever since. So be sure to check your power cords!

Ok last last question @TheOne and @gregzz4, which line on the fuzed cable from ecotech goes with the red aka positive line? The one with the inline fuse (guessing that's what it is). Measure three times and cut once:)

I believe this is true of the factory cable. You can double-check us on this with a multimeter; remove the fuse and test it's contacts in the fuse holder to each end of the cable.
Ecotech stuff is center positive.

I just checked mine to make sure. Yes, I have the positive on the fuse side.

Something such as this but you should be able to find it cheaper.
I bought mine locally and they were around $5 ea
Mind you I didn't need 12 footers

So I double checked with Ecotech and you are both right. Connected it up and did a trial run and all set. I am seeing how long my battery will last running the unit, Ecotech told me it puts it at a low setting to save power so hopefully a couple days. Thanks again.

True peace of mind. Finally found one in stock. At my LFS. Dallas North Aquarium. These recent storms scare me. But now I know my pets will be ok

Why not just use an inverter generator? There are many very affordable and reliable options now. I have a Honda EU2200 and a Ford Mo Co 2300 watt. Either one will run my 28 cubic ft lg refrigerator, a television, multiple fans, and keep pumps, lights and fans on the aquarium running.

Sorry to revive this post, do you guys think a 12v Lithium ions bettery would work too? (Obviously with the appropriate charger) They cost more, but should last more (both in terms of power duration and life)
