Im fairly new to the hobby, I'm looking to upgrade my return pump. I have a 90 gallon reef tank. Which return pump would be work for my tank, the Ecotech S2 or M2.

Thanks

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Kind of depends on what you are doing. Will it be your main return pump from the sump? Are you going to plumb a manifold for other purposes (i.e., UV, Chiller, etc.)? Personally, I'd go larger as you can always dial them down. In general, I think the S2 (1400 gph max) is too small for that tank...but I am always overkill.

Ya it will be my main return, and no Im not going to be running anything else off of it. Ya I was also thinking about going larger and just dialing it down. Thanks

You will have full control so the better option would be the M2 if it can fit where you plan on putting it. Welcome to the hobby and a good rule of thumb for most equipment today is to size up for future upgrades, equipment add-ons, etc.

always better to have a bigger pump, I have the m2 on my 150

Thanks, ya Im going to go with the m2, If I can find 1, possibly 2nd hand would be nice.
