Egg crate curing

I know that egg crate when it’s new and goes into a system it tends to build up algae. How can I cure it before putting it into a tank so it doesn’t get algae buildup.
 
I have a AIO tank that running while the other tank is still not set up so I can’t do that until the bigger tank is running sadly.
