I’m heating my ESHOPPs Mariner 100g with (2) 250-watt EHEIM heaters, controlled by a Hydros system. Just set them up in late December. They worked fine at first, but for the past couple of days I was getting low temp warnings from Hydros. At first I thought it must be user error, since I’m new to all this. But today I confirmed that one of the heaters just wasn’t working at all— no light (or heat) no matter where it was plugged in. I called EHEIM and they’re sending out a replacement; luckily my single heater seems able to do the job in the meantime.

Two takeaways:

1) I’m very disappointed with EHEIM quality, and

2) Listen to people when they say to keep a spare heater on hand. I thought I could wait for a good sale, but now I’m going to get an extra regardless.

Warranty exists, and bad heaters happen. It’s man made, it’s going to have a couple bad ones from time to time.

I suppose. But many things are man made, and I expect most of them to last for more than a month….

I wouldnt worry too much. It could have been dropped at the store, damaged in shipping, or just had faulty metal used in the coil manufacturing. The ones that are really annoying are the ones that die at 14 months old just outside warranty. I’ll bet you will have the replacement for the next 8 years

Appreciate your optimism. Here’s hoping!

I've gone through a lot of Eheim heater throughout the years for different tanks and water mixing stations. Never had one break. Same goes for multiple Eheim pumps and autofeeders and never had an issue. I think you just got unlucky with this one. Glad to hear they are sending a replacement.
