Electric Water changes?

Hi! I'm completely new to the aquarium hobby and just started a 15g tank. I'm a woman and really small, so its a genuine struggle for me to get water into my tank when doing water changes.

I have a python syphon, but it only seems to work when the bucket with water in it is higher than my aquarium. This requires me to build an unstable tower right by my pc and its just a disaster waiting to happen...

So! I was wondering if there was a way to make this easier or electric. I don't mind spending money, I don't know if I can attach a pump to it or anything- any tips would be incredibly helpful.

A simple pump with a good head height rating in the bucket will suffice. I use a cobalt inline pump on my rodi and on my 55 gallon freshwater a mag drive for refilling. I went a little over zealous and wired a light switch to control an outlet for this. But that really isnt needed [emoji23]

Just use gallon jugs.. you only need to do about 2 gallons at a time on 15 gallons, the gallon jugs are convenient to mix fresh salt water in and are easily handled making water changes a breeze on nano tanks.

I dont, i attach to 1/2 tubing to fill taking water out is easier as siphon forms naturally to my bucket on the ground. Its the filling of the 21” tall tank that was annoying. My tank is also near a window down stairs window usually just siphon out the window [emoji23]

I use a Maxijet 1200. I have a piece of vinyl tubing with a hook on the end made from 2 plumbing fittings. I use it to stir the water when I make it too.

That should do just fine, you will need to get a hose to attach to the pump and run from your Water on the ground to your tank how ever long that is I suggest you bring the pump to a hardware store and find a hose that fits a buy some in bulk.

Issue with the buckets is then I have to siphon the 5 gallon buckets at the store into those small ones and it still makes the process hard

what do you store your water in some kind of reservoir? Whatever that may be you put the pump in there and run the hose to your tank

I'm with retro on this one. On a 15 gallon, you only need to change approximately 2 gallons a week. This can be done with ice cream buckets, milk jugs, ect...

There is an expensive solution for You. Buy an expensive big outside filter for sweet water aquariums. You need 1,5 to 2 gallons filter capacity and it has to have valves on both hoses. The take out all filter media of the canister and mix Your new water there. Put on the lid and fill it up to the valves. Close the valves carry it to the tank and connect it. Let the filter go for a few minutes and the water change is done. Close the valves carry it away and empty. Just be shure that it is salt water compatible like Eheim, Fluval and many others.

Replace the filter bag with the black hose. Insert device into small bucket with good lfs water. Turn on pump, easy-peezey. It's pretty much what everyone has been suggesting, but in an all-in-one, supposedly easy-to-use set-up. Good luck.
