So i was looking at maybe getting an elegance coral. Was wondering if anyone has had any first hand experience with them. I had a read a little about some ones out there that werent doing well. So just wanted some opinions. If you do have one can you please post pics?

They are really nice. The ones from Indo seem to die.If you are looking for one make sure you get one from Australia so far I have a 100% sucess rate with them.

Yes, the aussie ones have a far better chance of living than the indo ones. Beautiful corals, too big for my tank though :)

And price, to some extent - aussies are usually pricier.

A friend and I bought 3 aussie elegances about 9 months ago, and all are still happy and growing, despite minor hiccups in both tanks since then.

All Depends on the shipping it receives Elegance Coral disease come from the shipping not from the location. if the coral goes into holding at the wholesalers for even a short time there is a chance the coral will get infected I bought a aussie cost me $150 I had the coral for a month I showed Eric Borneman pics of the coral before and after and he said it had the disease. ok there is no way to tell if it's aussie or indo but this place was receiving almost all aussie corals in talk to Eric he said there is no case of the disease in the wild so he said if you could have the coral direct shipped to your do it would not matter if it was indo or Aussie the trick is to find a good retail store that uses good wholesalers. it is about a year since my died Eric said I can try again now the trick is once again looking for somebody I can trust.this is a copy of a email from Eric to me regarding the coral
Hey there!

So, I have written to the Australian fisheries department and people at the GBR marine park authority regarding new roving use laws for the coral fishery as of June 2006. There is no mention of export, and this is something I think needs to be figured out as I suspect a lot of people are either buying what they think are Australian Corals or are marketing them as such. I'll keep you posted, but my hunch is that you have a standard Indonesian specimen that was put into contact or in a tank that held sick elegance Corals somewhere along the transport chain. Regardless, it looks like standard elegance coral syndrome and I do not have a solution or cure. I would try feeding it some of these new antibiotic gel pastes as the bacterial aggregates in the tissue will not respond to bath treatments. I also think it is pretty far along in the disease process and even if the AB gels are useful - which I have not tried on elegance - this one may be too far gone to respond. Bummer.

Eric

well after reading about all of this i may just wait on this piece. i really dont wanna spend that type of money on something that may just die on me. since hard to say where they are actually from and how they are treated before arriving at the store. so this may be a stay away piece for me... at least for now..... thanks for all the info everyone.
