Elevated phosphate

My phosphates in my 65 gallon Tank are at a 1. I just added a protein skimmer and reactor with chemipure Eilite in it. they have been running for almost a week. how long will I see a difference in my phosphates dropping?

have you tested again since last week? I'd think you'd see results by now. I would also advise a water change with phosphate that high.

I would have done a 2nd test to verify, and also have tested nitrates.

I've gotten readings of .9 before that I knew were wrong, that I think stemmed from me not cleaning the vial well enough, and after testing nitrite.... I knew something was wrong when the water turned dark blue... But I dont have individual testers, I use a hannah marine master.

Anyway, I always retest when I get alarming numbers, especially if the tank looks good.

I tested today. The color might be slowly changing on the test kit. It’s kinda hard to tell. It’s a salfert test kit.
