So moving from my frag tank back to the DT here we go on more progress ..

Which much thought and consideration and discussion with my brother Sheldon Jessup, I though enclosing the stand might help dampen the noise and vibration from the system so I decided to enclose the stand ,and had some other ideas to help air circulation in the stand . That will be posted later .

It was time to drill the display tanks overflow :

I set the templet about a 1/4in from the inside trine so that way the holes would line up perfect for the external overflow box on the back side of the tank

First hole drilled , for a total of 2 so now started the second hole

Then drilling completely done , and overflow box fit like glove.

So Happy 4th of July to everyone I hope you all have a great Holiday. [emoji95][emoji525][emoji894][emoji488][emoji312][emoji313]!!!

As promised here come some more pictures ;)

Sump change:

I decided to remove my white painted bottom of the sump and replace it with a blue bottom and I absolutely love the blue, and the splash of color it brings to the inside of the stand ;)

Here it is with skimmer inside , I was trying to match the Tunze Blue.

So from here I decide to start trying to get all the plumbing figures out .. here is the rough lay out of my ideas with all the fitting and pipe in place . I used 1 in Sch. 80 pipe with white Sch. 40 fittings. I also decided to paint my Gate Valves and ball valve blue to match the rest of the blue color theme .

From here it was time to add some air circulation to the inside of my stand by using 120mm computer fans x 2 and of course in blue to go with the rest of the blue theme.

Thank you scottedontknow , it was a very simple idea , and I thought it would clean up the build a lot. I really think it did , or that's what I like to tell myself lol .

I am planing to change my ro/di filters soon actually. I have not need to in awhile do to the fact that I was just running a FW planted tank . So it was still producing extremely low TDS outputs so thank you for the tip!

Great build [emoji106]. Definitely following along. I like the computer fan idea in the stand...I might have to try and figure something like that out.

I highly recommend it !! These two 120mm fans bring in a good amount of air I was truly surprised with the both of them. I found them on Amazon for like $14 , and bought the power supply for like $5 or so . I also installed a vent on one of the sides to provide better air flow through the stand . I'll will be posting more of that latter and explain a little more what what other features I did as well.

Thank you again MasterAlgeaGrower !

BRS ( bulk reef supply) sales quite a bit of hole saws to use to cut the holes into the glass. I also know glass-holes.com sales holes saws as well. Thank you very much for the compliment on my build.

It was really quite simple I got two fans , I wire them in series where they both run with the same 12v power supply. I cute/ stripped the wires and soldered them together. Then made sure they worked one last time and then installed them into my stand .

Like I said I absolutely love having theses two fans in my stand provide plenty of air in stand for skimmer and to push out the old moldy / stale air.

So here come a update:

So at times I am a little OCD when it comes to cables , and cable management in the stand. So I decided to use two 1.5in pipes running inside the stand that lead to my controller center. The pipes lead to the board then with two 1.5in bulkheads that I drilled and installed through the wood . The reason I went with 1.5in pipe and fittings is to make it a little easier to run the plugs and cables, to the back of the controller center where my controller will be installed.

Here are some pictures :

38544ef1ce07c2f03fd74f6dd95911a1.jpg

Hopefully the pictures can kinda give a idea of how it works . There is one pipe that is about 38in long (upper one) and the shorter one ( lower one) is about 26in long. They both have a pair of 45 degree elbows that lead into a bulk heads. They are then followed by the bulkheads , which then lead to 90 degree street elbows, which are on the other side of the controller board or in the controller section. Let me know if you all have any questions on it , I am sorry I didn't have better pictures when I actually created the cable runners in my stand.

Hope you like the update .

Very nice build sir Love the DIY! Can't wait to see more!

Thank you very much Niterunner77 , I am still planning more on the DIY aspect of this build. I am kinda changing some ideas that I had, from my original idea of this build. So please just bare with me on this build its a slow progress just due to the fact that I am still trying to finish schooling and prepare for my second child in like a week or so. But I will be posting updates when deemed appropriate. Thank you again Nightrunner77 for the kind words.
