EMERGENCY! Pagoda barfed black threads

I am guessing that I have inadvertently overdosed iodide.

What do I do?

100% water change?

Is this the coral ejecting it's Zooxanthelle?

No. All the polyps barfed up these black threads all at once and the flow swept them away. Now the polyps are just retracted. I'm going to take a picture now

This has been a bad month. I've made two major mistakes this month. Now I have to awesome pieces of coral that are hurting.

It sure looks expulsion of zooxanthellae to me. Some of my corals do it periodically. I wouldn’t worry about that in itself. However, I don’t know what level of iodine is harmful, but I do know you can overdose it. (The iodine numbers you gave don’t have units so I don’t really know how much you have anyway)

In the past, it was suggested to add iodine so I did. Years later, I stopped and didn’t see any change. I haven’t personally added iodine in over 10 years now. I do small water changes that I believe add any iodine needed.

I would try to increase nitrates and phosphates, especially for LPS. Maybe do a water change if there is an overdose. I would read this too.

@LardLad How long have you had this in your tank? Is your PO4 really 0? @dwest mentioned expelling of zooxanthellae and it very could well be. Check for signs of losing color. The polyps should be well inflated on pagodas.

Ive had the Pagoda less than two weeks.
Since I do 100% water changes weekly my PO4 is usually 0.02 or less per NYOS. This is a cookie jar reef.

So by the time I get home tonite, the Pagoda looks better than ever.
I guess I got lucky.
I hate learning by making mistakes.
