What are some coral options that fill these requests?

Encrusting
Does not plate or branch out
Looks great under blue and white lights
Doesn’t change the shape of the rock it’s on

I’m looking for coral(s) to cover one of Chandler Rocks amazing shark sculptures. I have a few potentials in mind but I’d love to hear your ideas!

Is like to argue that all encrusting (hard) coral will plate out if there is no rock to encrust.
What is it you are trying to do op?
There are many types.
Leptoseris, Cyphastrea, Montipora, Stylocoeniella, Porites, Psammocora, Leptastrea, and Favia/Favites

I wasn’t sure if there was one or some that will stop growing when they fully encrust or at least some that are less likely to plate than others. I don’t want to lose the shape of the shark. If all corals will inevitably do this, then I guess it doesn’t matter which I choose.

These are some I was originally considering:

Montipora
Cyphastrea
Psammocora
stylocoeniella (maybe Burning Banana or Electric Daisy)
Porites (maybe Darth Maul)

The best choices would be the Cyphastrea and the Stylocoeniella, IMO.
Possibly the Porites, they grow really slow.
I have Psammocora that is plating out, it ran out of rock, and Monti doing the same.
My Stylocoeniella didn't but died after only having it a year or so.
My Cyphastrea is staying on the rock also.

From what I have seen (in the wild at least), Leptoseris tends to plate out at the periphery of the colony. Cyphastrea, Porites, and Dipsastraea/Favites usually become either hemispherical, lobed, or lumpy as time progresses. Psammocora, Stylocoeniella, Leptastrea, and Montipora all work, though.
