my redsea tank blew a seal so in preparation of dismantling everything in preparation of a new tank, i startling removing all my equipment from my 832 energy bar. my apex EL was still connected with the aquabus cable and working. i had turned off all but a couple outlet to circulate water in the sump with a power head for my live rock.

so i unplugged almost everything an d was having a little trouble u plugging a fuge light that was in a dc24 outlet and also a 1link cable. . finally took the energy bar off the mounting plate and saw fusinon was complaining about no connection. saw the apex had no power and there were no lights at all on the energy bar. the circuit breaker didn’t appear to be tripped, couldn’t push it i. or anything. i unscrewed the back of the 832 and saw nothing obvious wrong like a capacitor leaking or anything burnt (not that i really know anything electrical🙂).

moved it to a different outlet and nothing. i have another energy bar that i just bought for another tank not setup yet and when i plugged it into the same outlet, its logo on the led panel was blinking orange so looks like nothing wrong with the outlet i was using.

so this bar is about 7 years old, any idea what could have gone wrong? i’m thinking something shorted when i was struggling with the dc25 or 1 link cables but thats just a guess.

should i try and get neptune to repair or just bite the bullet for a new one?

thanks

It's possible you've dislodged the connector board (the vertical board with the 1Link connectors) from the main PCB in the EB832. Make sure its still connected.

I have no opinion on the repair vs replace (they still repair?)

I would search on here — either the 12v or 24v PS went bad, can be easily replaced.

That would kill all power?

if aquabus power and outlets are all not working and no leds lit (including the big neptune logo) on front of unit, i guess main power.
funny it went after disconnecting everything.

I can tell right from the last picture that the 24v PSU is bad.

yw. there was likely a good power surge event that killed it. Or maybe it was on its last leg already.
Anyway, I do repair those if you want to send it in:
