Enough light?

Long story short.
I have an AI Prime 16HD, using David Saxbys schedule, I would say I’m 8-10 inches off the water. Is my RBTA getting enough light or too much light? He’s still trying to find his some so he is a few weeks old. Parameters are fine-salinity is 1.026 as well.
I am eventually going to go over to my LPS and rent a par meter. I’m just not sure why it is closed up so tight?
(ignore the new tank algae, I’m battling that issue)

Anemones will try and reach for the light if it isn't enough and they will shrivel up/hide if it is to much light. I have a bunch under my AI prime at 60% power on a fluval 13.5 and they are doing fine.

There must be something about your parameters it doesnt like.

So I currently on my way to a wedding reception - I will say I’m not the most advanced reefer so I don’t dose / test for anything that isn’t included in the saltwater master test kit. I will have those once I get home this evening.

My most recent parameters. (Added purigen today for the ~.25 ammonia) Also I am adding 40 drops per night of Microbact 7 for the algae.

Add a little white % as anemones are photosythetic and need good light. Your salt is a bit high. Lower to 1.025 Gradually

Anemones love dirty water 0 nitrates you should spot feed them
Not sure why you have ammonia? Anything die recently?

I’d check your nitrates, maybe one or the other bottomed out.
Provide Light for corals.
He will find his own spot

I would ditch the api kit and get your basic MAC/nutrient kits from salifert.
Mag, alk, calcium
Nitrate and phosphate

These will be the basic parameters we are interested in.

Your salinity should be obtained using a calibrated refractometer.

Why are you reading 0.25 ammonia? Did something die? How long has this tank been up and running?

And yeah I second ditching the API test kit, it's junk.

So I've added purigen & done multiple water changes thus far. I think the moral or the story is - I got the anemone and put it in the tank before my tank was ready for it....

With that being said, My local PFS said they would house him for a few weeks in hopes to help it stabilize while I do some intensive cleaning.

I woke up this morning and the anemone is oddly shaped? - is it dying? Attached photos of last night & one with the weird formation of it today....

I tried to stop feed it less than a nail sized shrimp last night and it wasn't having it. I tried to spot feed it with reef roids and it didn't look successful either.

Any thoughts?

Stop feeding it. If its going to recover then you should leave it be. Just dont let it crawl behind rocks or into a cave or its a gonner.
